A basic or simple website is also sometimes known as a static page website. The word "static" in this context does not mean that the website does not have any animation. You may or may not have animation in a static page website. In this case the word "static" means that the pages are not dynamically generated. In other words there is no database in the basic, simple or static website. A database driven website is one which has a CMS or Content Management System where the owner can login with a user id and password and make updates at any time. Although this may seem like a great option for everyone; there are plenty of business owners who simply are not going to make changes to their website any more often than once every few years. For these business owners their website is more like a brochure on the Internet. Like a brochure it just contains some information and this information hardly ever needs to be changed.

A basic website in general will consist of about 5-10 pages of content. Just as a brochure may have a few topics about the company so does the basic website. The simple website is not restricted to no more than 10 pages it is only that the owners of this type of website usually don't need more than 10 pages. Once someone needs more than about 10 pages they often opt for a database driven website. Even on a basic website we prefer to have a form for people to fill out on the "Contact Us" page. The reason for this is that you can have a form which asks all the questions you want to ask. This way when you contact the potential new client you already know what they contacted you about. Additionally we don't like to publish email addresses on the Internet because they become vulnerable to spam.
